Top 3 Pieces of Traveling Advice by Travelers Around the World

Over Yonderlust - crazy night with the locals in Osaka - thumbnail

Two weeks ago we asked our readers what most important travel advice they would like to share to their fellow travelers. Things that make their travel more enjoyable, more meaningful, and more memorable. I was very pleased with the great responses I received. Some of the most popular advice were things that most long-term travelers would probably agree on: pack light, and travel slow. Then there were lots other great tips that I hadn’t heard before, or at least hadn’t really focused on. In putting this list together I’ve learned a lot, and I hope it gives you some [read more...]

Ashley Jumping - Chichen Itza - Mexico - thumbnail

Whether you are a religious person or not, temples and other religious structures are often some of the most interesting places to visit while you are traveling. Not only that they are beautiful and architecturally incredible, but they also can tell a story about the local history and culture.

Many thanks to our fellow traveling bloggers for participating in this post. We gave them difficult task to choose only 3 from so many wonderful temples from around the world! As we received the emails, we saw one by one our favourite temples were taken, for example La Sagrada Familia [read more...]

Friday Photo: Best Looking Hitchhiking Backpackers

Backpackers hitchhiking3 thumbnail 100

These are the best looking hitchhiking backpackers we’ve seen! We were driving north in the North Island of New Zealand, entering the Waipoua Forest that houses some of the largest Kauri tree in the world, when the first time we saw this couple of interesting looking backpackers hitchhiking for a ride to the north. Ryan and I were thinking of giving them a ride, but we were too late. The car in front of us got them. We drove along the road inside the forest, made several stops to visit the few largest trees. Tane Mahuta, estimated to [read more...]

An elephant goes camping

Sometimes camping in exotic places means you will get exotic local guests. It could be an elephant visiting you in your campers, like what happened to some people camping in Africa.

Europe under the night sky

When we were in Europe, I didn’t realize how pretty a night scene picture can be, so unfortunately I only took a few of the night time photography. Here are some of my favourites. We love the city of Brussels.

The Town Hall of Brussels in the Grand Place (Grote Markt)

The Breadhouse or King's House Grand Place (Grote Markt), Brussels

I had no idea that time, that there was a guy making the happy pose and hold in that position for more than 10 secs during the time I took the photo! I was so surprised [read more...]

Sydney under the night sky

One of my new hobby is to take night scene pictures. I just knew that my tiny waterproof and shockproof camera could handle it, given I could manage the camera to stay still. It could be challenging sometimes since we are too lazy to carry around a tripod with us. So I usually use stones, brochures, wallet, or anything I can find that can give the right angle of the scene to my camera and let it stay still. Here are the highlights of my Sydney night shots. These first few were taken during the Australian Idol finale. They [read more...]

A quick glance at some ancient stadiums

Ancient Olympic games stadium thumbnail 100x100

This morning I found this awesome blog post 12 World’s weirdest stadium, check it out. Many of them have stunning backgrounds, however I have to nominate the Osaka Stadium in Japan and the gravity-not-needed field in Ukraine as the winners. You have to actually see the pictures in above blog article to understand what I mean. The Ukraine field was totally awesome, it’s built in a slope! Seems like Ukrainian players find the formula of anti-gravity. The Osaka Stadium had people’s housing and parking lot in the middle of the stadium, still with the cascading audience stands! Imagine you [read more...]

Andorra

Why do I choose to write an article about Andorra first? It’s because Andorra is our favourite European microstate that we’ve visited, and it’s not a very well known one. Andorra is a very small country with a total area only 468 km2. To illustrate the size, this is about two third of the total area of Singapore (but with only 1/60 of the populations). Andorra is the 6th smallest sovereign country in Europe after the Vatican City, Monaco, San Marino, Liechtenstein, and Malta (in that order). It is also smaller than the self-governing British territory [read more...]

Welcome to Dina and Ryan's Traveling Blog!

Gibraltar thumbnail 100x100

Hi there!

We are a married couple that decided to close down our apartment, limit our possessions into two of 60 L backpacks, and be nomad backpackers, go wherever our hearts desire.

The ape of Gibraltar

We started our journey on April 2009, with Europe as our first destination. From Ontario where we lived, we flew to Florida, and crossed the Atlantic Ocean with a repositioning transatlantic cruise ship. Yes, like the Titanic cruise. Believe me, it was not expensive as you might think. They are not in high demand, but [read more...]
