Friday Photo: Best Looking Hitchhiking Backpackers

These are the best looking hitchhiking backpackers we’ve seen! We were driving north in the North Island of New Zealand, entering the Waipoua Forest that houses some of the largest Kauri tree in the world, when the first time we saw this couple of interesting looking backpackers hitchhiking for a ride to the north. Ryan and I were thinking of giving them a ride, but we were too late. The car in front of us got them.

We drove along the road inside the forest, made several stops to visit the few largest trees. Tane Mahuta, estimated to be 1250 to 2500 years old, is almost 14 meters in circumference, while Te Matua Ngahere, over 2000 years old, is shorter than the first one, but the circumference is reaching almost 16.5 meters! As we walked back to our car, we saw…… the cool hitchhiking backpackers!

Perhaps their clothing style attracted my attention first. But seeing them closer, the girl had a cute big sign saying NORTH in it and a big smile across her face. The guy juggling 3 balls, also with a big smile. We chatted with them a little bit and took this picture. We can’t remember their name, but the guy was from Germany, while the girl is from Switzerland. If any of you guys happen to know these backpackers, tell them about this post. We owe them a thank-you for this great photo!

Unfortunately we were not able to take them as we were heading south, but they stuck in our minds as some very photogenic backpackers.

What’s your experience with hitchhiking? Have you ever hitchhiked? Do you usually take hitchhikers that you meet along the way? Share with us!
