Friday Photo: Monkey parenting (Ubud, Bali)

One of our favourite moment in Bali was in Ubud’s monkey forest. We saw a monkey family and I’m amazed by how much they look like a human family, except instead of holding the kids by the hand, they are holding on by the tail.

    Great shots Dina.

Monkey Forest is always a great spot to enjoy the antics of these funny creatures. When I was there this winter I was standing by the entrance holding a bottle of water. I felt this strong tug and the next thing I knew a monkey had my water. When he opened it and realized it was only water he was totally annoyed. He threw the bottle to the ground and stalked off. The whole thing was very funny.

      Hi Nancie!

(I’m surprised I haven’t yet replied this comment!!)

:D I like imagining your monkey story! I guess the monkey was disappointed that it was only water instead of banana milkshake, haha!

We lost our bag too to the monkeys. We meant to bring a little bag of banana for them, but somehow in the bag there were also our bread snack and delicious salak fruit (have you tried that one). These bread and salak were for us, but of course the monkey took them all!

Oh my! I just posted a monkey story and pictures too. I’m sort of obsessed with them but I’ve never seen ones like yours… guess I’ll have to plan a trip there too!

I’m always amazed how human they seem too in behavior, facial expressions, etc

If you enjoyed the Monkey Forest and their resemblance to humans, you must read “A Primate’s Memoir” by Robert Sapolsky!!

Keshie, yup, those monkeys in Uluwatu are quite naughty and hostile. People told me to take off my glasses too, but my I won’t even be able to tell human from monkeys if I do that :D (my eyes are that bad). They didn’t try to steal your bag?
